AMD Gets Chip Contract For Chinese Schools

KingFish (KingFish) Advanced Micro Devices Inc., Lenovo Group Ltd., and Dawning Information Industry have won a contract to supply 26,000 AMD-based computers for newly wired classrooms in a Chinese province.

Advanced Micro Devices Inc., Lenovo Group Ltd., and Dawning Information Industry have won a contract to supply 26,000 AMD-based computers for newly wired classrooms in a Chinese province.

The program, in the eastern province of Hebei, will benefit at least 200,000 students, AMD said in a statement on Monday. Each classroom selected for the program will receive one computer server powered by AMD’s Opteron chip and 30 desktop PCs.
