America Online’s David Palmer yesterday admitted the latest version of their software, AOL 9.0, has only served to curb innovation within their development branch and also in terms of competing with other ISP’s, reported LirpaIT.net.
The admission came after a report was published last week criticising AOL for the general functionality of their software and the ISP’s lack of focus with regard to security related issues.
“The report highlighted to us something I think we as a company have become complacent about. I think it was fair to say we’ve neglected our customers needs and that we’ve seriously under estimated the desire of our user base to have working security systems in place, and I suppose working software in general, that can protect them from the malicious threats that are evermore lurking on the Internet. To think we may have become one of those threats is an extremely sobering thought.”
