Microsoft to abandon passwords

Spinner (Spinner) Microsoft has revealed at a security panel at CeBIT that it is preparing to dump passwords in favour of two-factor authentication in forthcoming versions of Windows.

Microsoft has revealed at a security panel at CeBIT that it is preparing to dump passwords in favour of two-factor authentication in forthcoming versions of Windows.

“I believe that the time of password-only authentication is gone,” said Eckert. “We need to go to two-factor authentication. This is the only way to bring the level of trust business needs.”

What’s wrong with my current password “password”?

  1. Or like my passwords at school. They make us change it so often I just ended up doing password, password1, password2....Someone is like on password14 or so.
