Corsair Launches Two Power Supplies

Known worldwide as manufacturers of memory, Corsair is expanding their horizons by offering power supplies.

The two power supplies on offer are the KX620W and HX520W, specifically designed around high-demand systems. Supporting up to 50A draw on the 620W model, these workhorses supposedly can offer silent operation when supplying that much power.

The PSUs efficiency is rated fairly high at 80%, though I did not see any reference to them being a part of the 80+ consortium. They have many other nifty features as well, such as auto voltage detection, three +12V rails and even gold plated connectors.

    I suppose it was only a matter of time now that OCZ and Mushkin are also in the PSU business. Looks like this will be interesting

    If Corsair can make psu's as well as they can make memory, then we will be in for a real treat! I've been hearing good things about OCZ psu's like that 700w one. Maybe we will all be hearing Corsair RAM and PSU's in the "help me build a computer" threads.

    I've read a few reviews on the 620 watt model and it looks to be a real winner. They use 105 C rated Japanese caps throughout and they also rate their power at 50 C, just like PC Power & Cooling does. I also like the idea that several of the cables are removable too, so if you don't need the extra connectors you can leave them out of your case and out the way. I've added them to my short list of psu's to get when shopping. They also have a 5 year warrantee too.

    AH, this is good. The more premium players there are in the market, the more chance there is that prices will moderate some. Let's hope so. Bang for the buck, quality PSUs are expensive.

    Yeh, I did some reading on the 620 watt flavor, and it came out pretty strong, with all the bells and whistles, not to mention the beautiful matte black finish, and all sleeved modular cables. and they look better designed than my OCZ cables for my modstream, as the modstreams are too stiff in my opinion, especially the main connection, which is like bending rebar, anyway, enough jibber jabber, if you want to read the review, here is is, from legit reviews, which seems to have pretty objective reviews.

    Looks like a great PSU! If I didn't already invest in a PCP&C, I'd probably be interested in that model. Looks like a very clean modular design as well. I love that is is understated and does not look too flashy. The matte black finish is my favorite.

    I'm thinking of the 520 watt version for a future folding rig build myself. I know it will be overkill for a Conroe based folding rig, but I will need to get a 24 pin psu for it anyways and you can't argue about their build quality or warrantee length.
