chipsetChinese site Expreview is sharing information they found regarding AMD’s upcoming chipsets for the rest of the year and into Q1 2010.

The biggest news of the bunch is an upcoming replacement for the SB750 southbridge, the SB850. This new 8-series southbridge marks the jump to SATA 3, where users will get 6 GB/s controller speeds — double the speed of current SATA 2 offerings. SB850 will feature six SATA 3 interfaces and 14 USB2 ports. Roadmaps show this new southbridge should hit just in time for the holidays this year.

Along that note, the RS880D and RS890 northbridges are also expected to be released during that time. The RS880D is an integrated-GPU model containing a HD 3400 GPU with a 700mhz clock speed. No word yet on the specs for the RS890, but we anticipate it to outclass the current flagship 790FX chipset. By how much and in what ways is still up in the air.

Finally, the 7-series value chipsets will get one final refresh early in the third quarter of 2009 with the 785G. Specs are close to the existing 780G, but with the update to support DirectX 10.1 and UVD2.0.
