On Wednesday the nation’s largest cable operator and residential ISP announced faster packages in select markets and a free speed boost to most existing users. Of greatest note is Comcast’s new ‘Extreme 50′ tier which rocks a 50/10Mbps pipe on the newly-implemented DOCSIS 3.0 specification.

The lightning-fast $139.95 residential ($189.95 business) package will debut in New England, southern New Hampshire, portions of Philadelphia, and the Twin Cities in Minnesota. Over the next few months, Comcast expects to deploy the new service to 10 major markets.

2 Comments:

  1. Just makes it that much easier to hit your 250GB/month cap, doesn't it?

  2. They've had that in this market for a while now I thought. Twin cities. Atleast half a year I thought.
