While the DotD usually tosses out a neat utility, yesterday’s release of the first Firefox 3.1 beta just begged us to make it our feature download.
Here are the list of new features:
- Gecko — the browser’s rendering engine — enhancement
- TraceMonkey and SpiderMonkey for faster-than-Google-Chrome Java
- Support for CSS 2.1 and CSS 3.0 properties
- New tab preview/switching hotkey.
- Improved control over the Smart Location Bar (aka the “Awesome Bar”) using special characters to restrict your search
- Support for page-embedded OGM and OGG without plugins.
- Geode, the W3C’s geolocation plugin
- JavaScript query selectors, web worker threads, SVG transforms and some offline application support
