John Mayer just released a new video for his song “Heartbreak Warfare,” and it is the first-ever music video to feature augmented reality. By following a few instructions, augmented reality allows fans to be “in” the video.
After the Flash video loads on John Mayer’s website, viewers have to turn on their webcams, and hold up a “battle studies icon” which can be printed from the site. If the icon is correctly aligned with the webcam, the video will begin playback with the viewer in the background.
Some users have reported that the process can take a few attempts, but the website has detailed instructions on how to do it correctly.
