Memory and SSD maker G.SKILL announced this week the impending availability of their new Falcon II line of solid state disks.
The new lineup of SSDs features the Indilinx ECO controller, NAND cells built to the industry’s new 34nm process, and supports SATA TRIM right out of the box.
Interested parties can find the drives in one three SKUs by the end of the year:
- 64GB Falcon II (FM-25S2I-64GBF2): 220MBps read/110MBps write
- 128GB Falcon II (FM-25S2I-128GBF2): 220MBps read/150MBps write
- 256GB Falcon II (FM-25S2I-156GBF2): Speeds N/A
The astute may notice that Falcon II drives are generally slower than the company’s preceding line of Falcon SSDs. This is largely due to the type of NAND used, but that should be offset with pricing–34nm SSDs have consistently been cheaper than prior models.
Lastly, because the drive supports TRIM, we have added it to the growing registry of models that do.
