The name a software author chooses for their program determines whether Vista will require administrator privileges for it to run. If the word “install” is used, you had better be logged on as “Administrator” if you want it to run. Use a different name for the executable and Vista will blithely look the other way.

A programmer working in C++ development discovered this little tidbit after becoming curious as to why some programs required elevated permissions while others did not.

    Good thing i've got linux. As for feeling safe. Sure, as long as i stay away from vista.

    and spyware is easily removed in linux... just "sudo rm -rf /"

    Still do you need anymore reason to stay away from vista. I'd rather use XP.
