Everyone knows the new iPhone 3G was released last Friday, madness occurred, shortages were reported, and Apple failed.

Regardless if you actually made the plunge and purchased the new iPhone, the new applications are available to everyone with v2.0.

The launch of the iPhone 3G might go down as epic fail (yes, I said it), but the iPhone applications are making people forget all about the 6 hours it took activation.

At the launch on July 11th, the App Store had 500 applications ready for download – with 25% of them being completely free. A day before the App Store was opened to the public, it made Apple $55,000.

So you may be wondering which apps are worth your attention. You may not have the time to go through the App Store and download hundreds of applications like I did. This is a good thing.

Below are some of the iPhone application reviews and recommendations that will help you decide exactly which applications are worth your precious 3G bandwidth.

  1. They had all the previous iPhone users attempting to upgrade, all the while new iPhones were being purchased. All that traffic wasn't able to be handled and it overloaded their servers... however, have you considered how many people were hitting the site?

Sure, Apple could have released 2.0 a week earlier, to avoid the massive influx of users... but other than that, and some minor delays getting people's phones activated... all went very well. I went on Saturday to pickup mine, and from the time I left my house, to the time I got back, it was 3 hours, which included waiting an hour and 45 minutes online before they even opened. So, to get from my position in line, to inside, purchased and done took just over and hour.

If people want to avoid possible issues, don't adopt things on the first day! Done!

  2. however, have you considered how many people were hitting the site?

I'm sure their activation servers are separate from their web servers In general, I think people just have super-high expectations for Apple, which both help and hurt them.

    Welcome to Icrontic, Petey!

I'm sure you are incorrect They all had to hit iTunes in both regards.

  4. Name uh Pete! Welcome.

  5. I adopted on day 2. Took 10 minutes.

  6. Geez. Took me well over 6 hours on the first day.

Granted I had to port over my # from Verizon and sign away my first born - so that could of added extra time.
