The latest research study finds that 97 percent of American teens, ages 12-17 play computer, Web, console, or mobile games (what a shocker). 31% of gamers play games every day, and 21% play games 3 or more days a week.
The study found that video games are beneficial to teens. The gaming community helps kids become more civic-minded, encourages interests in politics, and increases socialization skills.

Not all video games are filled with senseless violence. There are many teaching/fundamental games out there that benefit children. Leapfrog’s entire market is dedicated to teaching kids through video games. There are games that teach cooking, surgery, musical instruments, and taking care of pets. The bottom line is games have always helped kids. It’s the parents who need to take a bigger role in what titles their kids play.
