nvidiaNVIDIA has taken the wraps off of the newest driver revision for GeForce 6000, 7000, 8000, 9000, GT 100 and GTX 200-series GPUs. Weighing in at roughly 120MB, this beta Windows XP/Vista/7 driver delivers the following changes:

  • A PhysX update (v9.09.0428).
  • The primary display in a multi-monitor configuration on the GeForce GTX 285 will no longer switch to a custom resolution being set for a secondary display under Windows 7.
  • A Windows Vista system will now properly recover from standby if the system is configured with a GeForce 9800 GX2.

Clearly there is nothing earth shattering in this release, but it’s always a cozy feeling to have the newest drivers, so get your fix below.

  1. The new drivers also allow for folding while SLi is enabled. Before while SLi was enabled only one card could fold. http://www.evga.com/forums/tm.asp?m=100786741

  2. Wasn't in the release notes; good to know.

  3. It is actually part of the release notes for CUDA 2.3.

    CUDA Updates
    • Added support for 64‐bit video encoding.
    • Added support to make all GPUs within an SLI group available for CUDA

  4. I can't get this to install properly. I get a black screen with a blinking cursor. (Beta drivers turned off the monitor and didn't turn it back on).

Try to restart windows 7, and it freezes while loading after installing these, which then requires a another restart to restore to previous good config.

    Should mention I have a 9600GT on a Gigabyte AM3 board

  5. I got this installed in Vista x64 with a GTX 260-216 @725/1450/1200. A couple of observations
    - Fallout 3 started stuttering for a couple of split seconds, no crashes but annoying
    - Rivatuner 2.24 works normally regarding overclocking and fan settings, just used ForceDriverVersion setting
    - Crysis performance dropped 1-2fps from ~47 at 1680x1050, all-high, noAA
    - Physx was disabled by default in the NVIDIA Control Panel after installation, enabled it.
    - Nothing else different
Recommendation: I wish I had waited for the next 19x driver since Fallout 3 is the only game I play.

  6. I had some FPS issues on a few games, so I went back to the 186.18 drivers. I'm going to install the Windows 7 RTM this weekend, and give the 190s another go.

  7. I have crossed my fingers for the next 19x driver before Mothership Zeta arrives. Otherwise, I will be going back to previous driver too. Hear me Nvidia? And, I will be banging my head if you say there are no problems in Windows 7
