On November 17, the USB Implementers Forum will host the SuperSpeed USB Developers Conference to officially unveil the complete USB 3.0 specification.
While retaining backwards compatibility with the current ecosystem of USB devices, the new specification will rocket along at a whopping 5Gbit/s. The new performance is owed to an optical interconnect recessed behind the traditional USB interface.
High-end motherboards are expected to be amongst the first devices to use USB 3.0, while the specification’s appearance is speculated to begin in the middle of 2009.
