Gargoyle (Gargoyle) Sony's überconsole becomes less unaffordable.

Sony has dropped the price of its 60GB console to just $499. That puts it much closer to the pricing of the Xbox 360 Elite, at $479.

But wait, you say that the Elite has a larger, 120GB drive? Sony’s got you covered there, too. They’re introducing a new PS3 package with the game Motorstorm and an… 80GB hard drive. Hey, you’re not buying these things for the hard drives, anyway, right? In any case, you’re always free to pop your own hard drive of any size into the PS3.

Sony, which has been embracing hubris since my first Betamax, claims that “sales should double at a minimum.” Perhaps, now that they’ll make cheaper Folding rigs.

2 Comments:

  1. Think of it as a 20 percent off sale, or buy 5 get one free.

  2. Also, you can get 5 free Blu-Ray movies when you buy one. Kind of nice. Still a little too pricey for my tastes.
