Samsung LogoWe all know that there’s no such thing as too much RAM; a few years ago 2GB felt awesome but today it’s not uncommon for power users to top out at 8GB. Well, Samsung is ready to take it to the next level with their new 32GB DDR3 sticks of server grade memory. Not only are we impressed by the sheer size of this RAM but we are also excited that they have designed it for low power consuption–running at 1.35 volts resulting in a 20% performance increase in effeciency over existing 1.5V DDR3 modules.

The 32GB registered dual inline memory module, or RDIMM is based on Samsung’s 50nm DRAM technology containing a nine quad-die package of 16GB DDR3 printed on each side of the RDIMM. There is no price mentioned yet but we expect that these server memory components will be avaliable at a high premium and won’t be making their way to your desktop gaming rig very quickly. We’re excited about the technology and looking foward to seeing it make the transition to the consumer market in the future.

  1. That's more memory than my father's hard drive! Hehe, nice article.

  2. Now if only mother boards generally supported that much ram. Even most general servers won't support that much ram in one slat currently. Though I assume a bios flash should address that eventually.

  3. Ooooh That would be sweet in my rig cant wait till its usable and cheaper

    That DIMM is probably $10,000.
