windows7Microsoft has announced in an official blog post that they have removed the 2.5 Million download cap and have extended access to the public beta until January 24th.

Users will still have access to the download even if the 2.5 Million limit is reached. Due to the enormous surge in demand and the fact that many users were unable to access the site over the past 24 hours, the boys at Redmond decided to extend the time to ensure their users a good download experience.

  1. My favorite part of this whole thing has been that instead of getting with the damn times and using bittorrent to get this Beta out, they attempted to push 2.5 million copies of a 3.2GB ISO from their own servers. Morons. When their servers were getting raped, you know who was having no trouble getting Windows 7 to downloaders? Uh huh.

  2. Yeah, I picked up the final beta at 900KB/s from the Torrents while Microsoft dicked around with a horrible Java download manager and awful bandwidth.
