Wii’s had high definition all along

It seems the Wii GPU has a lot more hi-definition capabilities under the hood than they letting on.

There are basically two reasons we don’t see the high-res definition the other gaming consoles offer.

The console itself can’t really produce high resolution at decent frame rates and the cost factor would be too high. So don’t expect 1920 * 1080 full resolution games from Nintendo.

That doesn’t mean they don’t know anything GPU’s though.

  1. The Wii has issues putting up great FPS on my big screen as is. They would have to upgrade a few other components and raise the price to make HD happen for the Wii.
