Well, we can’t say we didn’t see this one coming. First we had whispers in the wind. Shortly after we had photoshopped shady cell phone pictures of Best Buy’s internal inventory. Last week things were all but confirmed when scanned ads started to surface on the interwebs.

Today Microsoft finally cut the price of the 20gb Xbox 360 down to $299, which is $50 off from its previous price of $349. They also introduced a new 60gb model that will hit stores in early August for a respectable $349.

The last Xbox 360 price cut was last August just before Halo 3 was released. Also, it is expected that both Sony and Nintendo will keep their current price points this summer.

  1. Hopefully if any of you guys were planning on snagging a 360 - you waited for the price to drop and didn't pull a Kenkel (and buy one 3 weeks ago)

  2. Damn, maybe I can finally afford a current gen console. Then again, I am still in the red from the LAN

  3. I've got the Halo Edition. Been thinking about getting a larger drive for it, but didn't want to drop the $$ they want for a 120 GB... Hopefully the 60 GB will be more affordable...

$179 + or - a few dollars here or there seems crazy considering I could get a 300 GB to 1 TB internal/external drive for a PC for that much...

Anyone ever opened up the XBox drive housing to swap the HD? Can it be done successfully?
